LODI, Ca. - Last weekend was not only a day to celebrate the blessing of “Dads”, but was also a time where the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Dept came together to honor one of their own, as Angler’s Press Outdoors hosted for the department - at Tower Marina & resort, a memorial-benefit to honor the memory of deputy Sheriff Mark Stasyuk, an avid angler and outdoorsman who last year, lost his life in the line of duty.
This memorial-benefit event was a ton of fun and provided something for everyone to enjoy as it hosted a free BBQ, big raffle, multi-species fishing competition, and access to the state-of-the-art water park facility located within Tower Park Marina resort. The tides were high for the majority of the 6-hour competition period, and fishing was pretty good for some competitors, as the following winners took home custom trophies and cash for their respective divisions:
- Charles Gailey- Black Bass adult division: 13.89
- Tim Coffman- Striped Bass adult division: 8.01 pounder (1 fish limit)
- Aiyana Stasyuk- Black bass youth division: 7.67 pounds
- Weston Coffman- Striped Bass youth division: 3.65 (1 fish limit)
- Edwin Rivera- Pan fish youth division – 1.45
Top three finisher in the Adult - "Stripers" division (Tim Coffman, Jim Russel, Steven Gonzales)
The event raised over $3,000 dollars, and all proceeds from the event went to the Star 6 foundation’s Mark Stasyuk memorial scholarship fund to help recruits in the Sacramento County Sheriff’s academy.
On behalf of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, Angler’s Press Outdoors would like to extend a sincere thanks to all of the great organizations that helped support this event, and the many law enforcement officers that came to help ensure everyone had a wonderful time.
We look forward to seeing you all at next year’s event!
