ROCKLIN, CA - In a 2-day battle that each day turned like a delta tide, victory was claimed in grand fashion by Kelly Owens and Jared Lane, as they prevailed over a strong field of competitors to win last weekend’s 4thannual 2019 Bass Pro Shops Open.
Their 2-day, 10-fish limit came in at 31.80 pounds, earning them $5,300 dollars, and the right to be inducted into the prestigious line up of past Bass Pro Shops Open champions.
As did most of the field, Kelly and Jared concentrated their efforts in the south area of the lake throwing various bait offerings but finding most of their fish on River2Sea products.
“We are overjoyed at winning this event, as it is high-profile, and we both know Folsom Lake bass can be very “fickle” in the late spring”, noted Kelly. “We also were aware that there were some extremely good teams competing in this field, which makes this win even more significant”.
Second place came to Damon Witt and Gary Baldwin who fell from their day-1 lead, weighing a 29.32 pound 2-day limit (that included a 7.29 big fish) to capture the runner-up spot and $4,800 for their efforts.
Rounding out the top 3 was Chris Raza and Kevin Wallace of Roseville, and Citrus Heights respectively, who took 3rdplace honors and $3,100 dollars on the strength of a bag weighing 27.82 pounds.
The 2019 Bass Pro Shop Open was unbelievable fun, from the opening blast-off, to Sunday’s huge Outdoor Expo and exciting store front weigh-in, that allowed a huge crowd of outdoor enthusiasts - of all ages and skill levels, enjoy a fun-filled “outdoor themed” weekend.
A sincere THANK YOU to all who participated, and we look forward to presenting the 5thannual Bass Pro Shops Open in 2020!
