These hotels are located appx 15 mins from New Melones launch ramp. Please reserve your room NOW, as these rooms will go quickly and may not be available as the Classic event approaches.


Off-Limits/Pre-fish restrictions:

Classic competition waters will be OFF LIMITS to all Future Pro Tour Classic qualifiers from February 26th through March 4th. Official pre-fish days for the Classic will be March 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th On Thursday, March 8th all FPT Classic competitors must be off the water by 12:00pm (noon). From Jan 29th until the end of the Future Pro Tour Classic event, qualifiers CANNOT fish with, or solicit information from anyone other than your team partner or another Classic Qualifier. Please do your own work! Violation of this rule can result in immediate disqualification.


Classic Celebration Information

On Thursday, March 8th, beginning promptly at 3:00pm, at the Ironstone Winery in Murphys Ca, we will host our annual Future Pro Tour Classic celebration. You are not required to eat dinner, but It is mandatory that at least one team member attend this event, to sign-off on receiving official information and instructions for the event. At this time you will receive your blast-off numbers and other important information. If neither of you cannot attend this meeting you will be forced to forfeit your place on the FPT Classic roster – no excuses, no exceptions.

The Classic Banquet Celebration will take place promptly at 4:00pm and will feature delicious first-class gourmet cuisine served buffet style, and is ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT with your choice of entrees. Cost of the dinner is $35.00 per person, which includes tax and gratuity. If you plan to eat with us, you must RSVP the Future Pro Tour office NO LATER THAN Monday, Feb 26th , with a check or credit card payable to the Future Pro Tour, in order to participate in the Classic Celebration banquet.

Remember, this is your big night, and as many of you that have attended past FPT Classic banquets will attest – it is ALWAYS a ton of fun, and you are welcome to invite as many of your family and friends as you wish to share in the festivities.  Please ensure that you send in the appropriate amount of money for any additional guests you intend to bring. Please note that dinner seating for you and your guests cannot be guaranteed without your RSVP paid in full.

Please note that dress code for this Classic celebration is “dinner-casual” and collared shirts are required (i.e. long or short sleeve polo style shirts). NO shorts, NO hats, or T-shirts will be allowed.  Please cooperate with this request in that we will hold a photo session with many important sponsors and media representatives present. There will be several VIP’s, sponsors, and media people at this Classic celebration, so make sure to meet, greet, and say hello to as many as you can (you never know where it may lead)!



1st Prize - 2017 Nitro Z18 with Mercury 150 & Trailer

2nd through 10th place will receive the following:

  • 2nd Place - $3,000 cash
  • 3rd Place  - $2,500 cash
  • 4th Place  - $1,500 cash
  • 5th Place  - $1,200 cash

6th – 10th Place – Each team (6th-10th place) will receive $120 PLUS prizes worth $200, consisting of items such as reels, rods, sunglasses, fish finders, on-board battery chargers and/or other premium product. Teams must be present to collect their respective prizes. If winning teams are not present, prizes will be given away in a raffle to those in attendance at the awards ceremony. Please note: The above cash payback matrix is based on 100 paid entries and will be adjusted up or down accordingly - first place prize is guaranteed.

The 2nd highest finishing region will receive an new vehicle. For instance, if the top five finishing teams are central region teams, the 1st place will receive the boat package, and the 2-5th place central region teams will receive cash as stated in the payout above. If for instance, the 6th place team is a northern region team, they will be the highest finishing team in that region, and therefore receive the new vehicle.Please note: The team winning the vehicle cannot win that places prize money and the vehicle – only the vehicle.

At the request of our anglers, we have moved away from the traditional “winner take all” championship event, and so that there is money/prizes to be paid back for 2nd - 10th places, a $120 per team entry fee will be required. A $20 Big Fish and $30 High Roller option pots will be available – but only if you choose to get into them.

It is important to note that this entry fee IS NOT collected to pay for the FPT Classic Championship 1st place award as it is GAURENTEED - regardless of the number of anglers that participate in this championship event. The 1st place prize is the FPT's reward to our anglers for their year-long participation and support of FPT events.

The $120 entry fee charged will be paid back to the field of participants in the form of cash and prizes to the top 10 finishers, and provides anyone finishing in the top ten with nearly  3 times the cost of the entry fee. Please note that a small portion of this fee collected will be held back to cover staffing expenses – i.e.: weighmasters, boat check, weigh-in, setup/breakdown crew.


FPT Classic - Schedule of events:

The 2017/18 FPT Classic will be held on March 9-11th, of 2018, at New Melones (day 1 and 2,), and at Lake Pardee reservoir (on the final day). This Classic championship event will be held in a 3-day "FLW style" elimination format where the entire field of qualifiers will compete on day one and day two, and on the final day (day 3), the field will be reduced to the top 15 finalists.


Classic Celebration (Thursday, March 8th )

 - 3:00pm - 4:00pm - Registration, Cocktail Mixer with Sponsors and VIP guests

-  4:00pm - 5:30pm - Dinner

-  5:30pm - 6:30pm - Presentation of Awards, special guests, guest speakers

 - 6:30pm - 6:45pm - Rules review/weigh-in instructions

 - 7:00am – Nation Anthem, Blastoff!

 - 3:00pm  – First weigh-in begins at New Melones Marina AT THE GAS DOCK


Competition – Day 2 (Saturday, March 10th) @ Launch @ New Melones Marina

 - 7:00am – Blastoff

 - 3:00pm – 2nd day weigh-in begins at New Melones Marina AT THE GAS DOCK

 - 6:30pm – Mandatory meeting  for top 15 finalists at upper parking lot at New Melones Marina for photo shoot and final day instructions for Lake Pardee.

Please Note: All regular FPT rules apply for this event with the following added:

Blast-off order reversal:

The order of blast-off will be reversed on the 2nd day of competition.

On the final day, blast-off will be determined by the team with the heaviest weight.


A 25-yard encroachment rule will be in effect for this event. To determine what the encroachment margins are, draw an imaginary 25-yard radius around your boat. No other competitor is allowed to violate that circumference by casting into it, or bringing their boat within that radius.
