Tom and Shane Peirson take BPS Open crown!

Rocklin Ca. - In what was truly a battle of both "will and skill", the father and son team of Tom and Shane Peirson, fought though a tough bite and stifling heat to outlast nine other teams and emerge victorious in this weekend’s 2nd annual Bass Pro Shop Open held on Folsom Lake.

Tons of floating wood, and temperatures in the mid-nineties were major factors in this event and anglers found the bite to be “hit or miss”, as hours would go by – without and single bite, followed by periods of time where fish could be caught on every cast.

GRANITE BAY, Ca – The only things that parallel the steadily rising water levels at Folsom Lake, are the rising anticipation levels amongst anglers that know how incredible the reservoir can be for catching double-digit bass in the spring when its near full pool.

For as of press time, the list of anglers ready to participate in the 3nd annual Bass Pro Shops Open - Top 125 when it returns to Folsom Lake May 19-20th, is steadily growing, as only a limited field of just 125 teams will have the opportunity to catch some big bedding females, late staging fish, post spawners, and fish that can always be found hiding in the huge willow bushes that crowd a very fertile shoreline.

The big challenge will be that after day one of competition, the field will be reduced to only ten teams, and that group of “Super Ten” finalists will then drive from Folsom Lake to the Bass Pro Shops store in Rocklin, for a “B.A.S.S style” drive by weigh in that will see an enormous crowd of spectators, (most of which who have never seen big bags of bass - in living color), witness what kind of fish can be caught at Folsom Lake!

With an affordable $180 per team entry fee, a 1st place prize consisting of a fully-rigged Tracker Pro160 bass boat package, and money spread out to the top 12 places, this will be the most exciting fishing event held in the greater Sacramento area – that is open to ALL LEVELS of anglers.
